8 Days Primates of Uganda and Rwanda


Day 1: Air Port Transfer

Upon arrival Kigali International Airport, our representative who doubles as your driver guide and you will be transferred to your hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2:Kigali to Kinigi Gorillas.
Early in the morning, you will be picked from your hotel and drive you to Ruhengeri and continue to Kinigi park headquarters for briefing and thereafter off to Gorilla Tracking in Parc de Volcanoes National Park the home of Mountain Gorillas You will be allocated different families to track. If you are a large group, to make sure that most of the group tracks similar families, you need to be early at the park offices so that allocation is done first for your group.  Your will then be off from the park offices to begin your adventure. A briefing from your local guide and then it’s off! The time taken and the terrain varies (2- 8 hours) this depends on the movement of these gentle giants. The excitement of meeting face to face with the gentle giants takes away the pain of some times lengthy and tiresome trek.

You will need to carry long pants like jean type, sturdy shoes to help you hiking steep and slippery slopes, long sleeved shirts and blouses to protect your bodies from thorns and itching plants. You may not rule out raining on you and at least a rain coat is needed to protect your bodies and any equipment carried along with like cameras. Also carry insect repellants and sun scream
After tracking, you will cross into Uganda. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorillas Tracking  - Lake Bunyonyi.
After breakfast, you will be driven to the starting point to track gorillas of Bwindi families in the southern sector of this park.
After tracking, you will transfer back to your Hotel. OR to Kabale town, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Bunyonyi/Kabale – Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning after early breakfast will depart for Queen Elizabeth Park - the southern sector of this park – Ishasha sector famous for climbing lions. Do game drive looking for these big dogs the fig trees. After the game drive, continue to the northern part of this park arriving at Mweya peninsular, check in at your Lodge. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park to Fort Portal/ Kibale Forest
Early morning game drive viewing herds of elephants, buffaloes and antelopes and some predators- lions leopards hyenas etc. Watch different species of birds. Over 500 species that include Black-bee eater, 11 different species of Kingfisher, several falcons, eagles and raptors have been recorded here.
Then take an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel where you will see a variety of game mostly marine animals. This waterway joins Lake Edward and Lake George and it is filled with schools of hippos, buffaloes, with elephants at the banks and a wonderful diversity of birds. Because of the different habitats of the lakeshores and the broad Savannah, the variety seems endless. Watch water birds diving for fish, the Marabou stork, bee-eater and cheeky bronze-tailed starling as well as the majestic crowned crane. After the boats cruise, you will be transferred to Kibale Forest National Park.Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Kibale Forest National Park, to Kampala
After an early breakfast you will be driven to Kanyanchu park headquarters. With local guides trek chimps Kibale National Park in their natural habitat nestled in the shadows of the Rwenzori Mountains (the famed mist shrouded "Mountains of the Moon") Kibale Forest is rich in animal life, including an astonishing 12 species of primates including chimps in this park have been recorded, the very localized red colobus and L'Hoest's monkeys. Tracking the chimpanzee our 'cousin' is a very interesting experience.
After this chimp walk will drive to Kampala, check in at your hotel. Dinner and Overnight.
Day 7: Kampala Airport Transfer
In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Entebbe Airport to catch up with your flight. End of safari
Pease note the safari cost includes:

  • Meals and accommodation
  • Full time safari driver/guides,
  • Park entry fees, all game drive, boat/ launch trips, all activities while on safari and all the applicable Government Taxes.
  • 4x4 wheel drive vehicle with gas
  • Airport transfers.
  • 2 Gorilla permits per person (1day visit)-Rwanda and Uganda -Bwindi
  • 1 chimp permits per person in Kibale Forest.
  • Other border crossing fees

Excluded are:

  • Drinks, your bar bills, phone calls, accommodation in Kampala for the 2 nights, personal insurance and any other services of a personal nature like souvenirs tips and laundry etc.
